The Place Massena at the start of the 20th century. The Place owes its name to General Massena, who fought along side Napoleon Bonaparte to save France from Austrian and Russian invasions at the end of the XVIII century. Place Massena already represents the heart of Nice, with its boutiques, luxury hotels and casinos. Even at this time, a tramway was up and running….
